Man, it has been SO long since I last did one of my monthly round-up posts. I thought that I would have hundreds of photos to share with you, but flicking back through my camera roll, it was hard to see why I’ve been so busy.
Thanks to my trusty calendar I did manage to piece together some of the fun things that we’ve been up to so let’s get you all caught up:
MAY
Picnic in the Park
As show week for Top Hat loomed ever closer, the cast and crew became like a second family. Even when we weren’t rehearsing we still found ways to spend time together, like at our Company Picnic in the Park. It was a glorious day for a picnic and the girls had lots of fun playing games with the cast.
Engagement Celebrations
My sister and her partner got engaged on the day that their son, and my beautiful nephew, Alfie was born. However, due to one baby with an unknown infection, we had to cancel the original celebration dinner.
Unfortunately, the revised date meant that I had a lot less time to make the cake than I had planned, so it didn’t turn out perfectly, but they do say it’s the thought that counts and we did have a lovely meal to wish them well in their future together.
Top Hat at Theatre Royal, Nottingham
So, this happened. I have far, far too many words to fit into a quick round up post, so I am planning to do a full post about my Top Hat experience, but there is no way I could write a May round-up without at least mentioning this.
May 2018 will go down in history as my debut performance with Carlton Operatic Society, my debut performance at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham and one of the best weeks of my entire life. It was EPIC!!
The photo below just about sums up how incredible I felt for the whole week. Living my best life!
JUNE
Miss Mess turns 8!
June, as ever, was pretty much taken over with the birthday celebrations of Miss Mess. We celebrated her 8th birthday in style, with 2 separate birthday teas and a trampolining party with her school friends. (The phrase “I’m too old for this s**t has never seemed more appropriate!)
Honk Jr
Another day, another play. This time it was Honk Jr, the musical of the tale of the Ugly Duckling. Miss Mess had her first solo singing line (and got to wear a radio mic for the first time), and Mini Mess looked utterly adorable in her little ducking costume. I do love watching them both perform!
JULY
Chatsworth Country Fair
One of the great perks of being Friends of Chatsworth is our invitation to the Annual Friends Garden party. It’s such a lovely, relaxed evening with music, entertainment for the kids and the fabulous gardens of Chatsworth to explore. This year we took my husband’s sister and brother-in-law along with us and we all had an amazing time (even if I did queue for over an hour for Mini Mess to have her face painted.)
Bursting with Pride
Miss Mess is really out-doing herself at the moment. In the last two months she has been to two auditions for pretty major theatrical opportunities, found out she was successful in both auditions and also been nominated for an award at school to recognise her responsibility in learning. There have been a lot of proud mummy tears recently.
Another year older…
Finally, right at the very end of July was my birthday. Celebrations on the day itself were pretty low key. Mr M cooked me a delicious breakfast of french toast with strawberries and maple syrup. We’ve booked ourselves a night in a hotel and a special dinner as our main celebration of our joint birthdays.
