This is a public service announcement that we are currently 216 days into 2017. That’s right, we have just 149 days to go until it’s bye bye 2017, hello 2018! That is a scary thought.
July has been another hectic month – I’m starting to feel like there is not other type. Looking back over my calendar to write these posts, I had completely forgotten some of the things I’ve been up to. Things like the Chatsworth garden party on the 7th July feel so long away, I can’t even believe they were just 4 weeks ago.
So, here’s a monthly round up to help you catch up on anything you may have missed.
July pretty much started and ended with birthday celebrations. The first weekend in July held Miss Mess’ 7th birthday party and the last weekend marked my 32nd birthday. It was a month filled with lots of excitement, including the return of Game of Thrones (sex and dragons!) and the end of term/start of the school holidays.
I also managed to crowbar in a couple of trips to the theatre. Once with the whole family to see The Gruffalo and once to see some of my theatre group friends in an amateur production of Guys and Dolls.
July held the absolute highlight of my blogging career so far. I got invited to review the new brunch menu at The Flying Childers restaurant and I have genuinely never been happier. I had a lovely brunch and felt really privileged to be able to write something for one of my favourite places in the whole world. It’s no surprise that the brunch post is featured as one of my most popular posts in July.
July was also the month that my stats started to creep back up and hopefully this means I’m heading back in the right direction. My three most popular blog posts in July were:
August is set to be another amazing, if busy, month. (Even if it is already 8 days in)
I’m feeling so incredibly inspired with the blog at the moment. I’ve got a few blog events to attend and write about. I’m also hoping to branch out into new areas on the blog and expand my field a little. There are aspects of blogging like parenting, books and beauty that I hardly ever write about so I want to try and introduce a little more variety. I’m really determined to use these weeks over the Summer holidays to knuckle down and get some serious blogging work done.
The most exciting part of August is that we’re going on holiday. We’ve booked a week in a cottage in the Lake District and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve got lots of adventures planned and I’m really looking forward to spending some quality time with the family. I’m also planning to attempt a vlog of the holiday, which will no doubt have hilarious results and if nothing else will give me a holiday project.
I really cannot believe how quickly we are travelling towards the end of this year. In some ways I feel that I’ve achieved so much, and in other ways I’ve achieved so little. Well, let’s hope I can make the most of the next few months.
