Making new blogger friends at Copper, Nottingham

March 12, 2017

Yesterday, I finally had the opportunity to meet up with some local bloggers in Nottingham.  The event had been planned for a while and wasn’t all plain-sailing, what with the initial host stepping back for personal reasons and a number of people dropping out at the last minute.  Still, we eventually got there and I, for one am very glad that we did.

Bizarrely I have never been to Copper before last week and now I’ve been there twice in a matter of days. Both times I was blown away by how friendly and welcoming the staff are.  I love the decor and ambience and would certainly recommend this place to anyway wanting to go out for a nice meal or drinks with friends or colleagues.

When we arrived, I bumped into Shannon from Life In The Fashion Lane.  Luckily I recognised her from her Instagram feed (God Bless Instagram).  We both ordered coffees and then headed upstairs to our function room for the event.  The room was really bright and airy and looked out over Nottingham near the Theatre Royal.   There was plenty of seating and it would be a lovely room if you were looking for somewhere to hold a private party.

We had our own private bartender/waiter for the day. I’m not entirely sure what his official title was but he was also lovely and helpful so definitely gets a 5* review from me. When I sat down there were already a number of people there.  I must admit I didn’t catch everyone’s names but most I recognised either from social media or from other local events I’ve been to.

I sat on a table with Shannon, Sherry from Sherry Scribbles, Sophie from Sophie In Wonderland (who was also our hostess for the day) and later we were joined by Leanne from Oh Simple Thing.  It didn’t take long for me to feel really comfortable chatting to these lovely ladies ( and all the rest, to be fair) and we had lots of giggles and gossiping.  It was great to get to know them all properly and finally put faces to the Twitter handles.

After a while we all started to get hungry and so the majority of us ordered a bite to eat.  Everything on the menu sounded fantastic, but I eventually chose the Veggie Club sandwich as it had Halloumi on it ( which is one of my latest fads!)  It also had roasted veg and avocado, so now I feel I can say I am a true blogger!  It was really delicious and I devoured the whole lot.  I didn’t eat a lot of the salad, but the chef should not take this personally – I’m just not that into salad!

To go with my dinner, I had a Long Island Iced tea, because well, I could.  It was delicious and had a real kick to it!  It’s probably a good thing that I only had one!

After lunch, Rachael from Helpless Whilst Drying and Molly from The Rose Beauty Files came over to chat with us.  Everyone was starting to eave so Molly, Rachael, Sophie and I decided to have a quick walk around town.  (Well, they decided – I tagged along and hoped they didn’t mind!)

Look at the pretty staircase on the way out of Copper.  I’m willing to bet this will be featuring on A LOT of bloggers’ Instagram feeds in the next few days.

After saying goodbye to the rest of the girls, the four of us had a wander around TK Maxx and then Lush. I managed to somehow resist temptation and only bought one bath bomb – but I’m saving that for another post.

I just want to say a massive thank you to Sophie for stepping in and hosting the event, and to all the other girls for being so welcoming and friendly.  It was great to get to know people better and I hope to see everyone again soon at future events.  I certainly won’t feel half as nervous turning up if I know there will be some friendly faces there.  Thanks also to the staff at Copper for providing such a great venue and fabulous service.  I’m already thinking up an excuse to come back!

I’ve never been to Nottingham but I definitely want to see what’s to offer! It sounds like despite the initial troubles with the event, you all had a great time! The food looks amazing too!

That’s sounds like a fantastic idea! I’d certainly recommend it. I’ve seen you at other events but don’t think I’ve ever actually said hello so it would be lovely to chat to you properly! xx

Looks like you had a fab time here, Stacey! I absolutely love blogger meet ups, especially when there’s a relaxed vibe and plenty of time to chat and get to know each other! I also find Instagram a godsend for learning what people look like so I can recognise them on the day haha! And I’m a huge halloumi lover too so I fully support your sandwich choice

Gutted I couldn’t make this meet up, it sounds like you all had such a lovely time and Copper looks lush! It’s always been so nice meeting bloggers in person, and to hang out with people who get the need to photograph your food before you eat it!!
