A Mess In A Dress

It's a mixed up life...but someone has to live it!

Life Lately: January | A Mess In A Dress

February 4, 2017

This year, I’ve decided to try something a little different for my monthly review posts.  While I often write about things I’ve been doing or places I’ve been on the blog, I often don’t get the chance to write about what is generally happening in my life.  To this end, I’ll be writing a chatty, ramble post at the end of each month (or more likely, at the start of the next) giving you a bit of an update of what’s been happening behind the scenes at A Mess In A Dress.

So, January saw the beginning of 2017.  We all hoped that 2017 might be somewhat of an improvement on 2016, but so far, not so good.  Donald Trump is proving every bit as awful as we had anticipated and Brexit is a go, so there’s that to look forward to.  Still, the impending apocalypse will have to wait until another day.  Right now, we’re talking about me!

I do love to be busy, but even I may have pushed it a little too far this week.  I’ve managed to engineer a situation where I was basically out of the house from Monday morning until 7pm tonight, unless I was sleeping.  Can anyone say burnout?

January has been pretty busy with work, home and rehearsals for Oklahoma really stepping up a gear.  If you looked at my calendar for the past month there really weren’t many days that I didn’t have something planned.  This week I also got to go to see Sister Act and Strictly Come Dancing Live which were very exciting and I have to write full blog posts about (in a minute, when I finish this one!).

After the Christmas gluttony I’ve started up the running again.  It was a little difficult to get back into the swing of it but we are getting there.  I’m up to about 7 miles, which is about half of the distance I’ll need to run for the half marathon.  I wrote a post about my running journey so far which you can read here.

My little baby Bug, aka Mini Mess started nursery in January.  It was a huge step for her, and possibly a bigger one for me and her dad who are getting accustomed to our baby growing up!  She’s taken it completely in her stride and seems to be having a great time.  She’s even been ‘superstar’ on a number of occasions so she’s settling much better than I thought she would.  She’s off on her first school trip tomorrow – they really do grow up so fast!

As much as I enjoy being busy, it is really taking it’s toll on the blog.  I had many, many posts planned for this month and most of them have been put on the back burner.  With more events coming up every day, I’m getting quite a back log of things I want to write about.  Hopefully I can do some catching up over the weekend.

February is looking just as hectic, if not more so. Plus it’s only 3 and a half weeks until it’s showtime!  Nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time.  Hopefully I’ll still manage to get some posts out during that time and then there’ll be plenty to write about in my February round up!

Have a great February!

It sounds like you had a super busy month Stacey! I’m so jealous that you got to go and see Strictly. I’m always skint when tickets go on sale so I’ve never been to see it live before. One of these years I’ll surprise myself and have the money saved up ready! Hehe.

I didn’t know you were doing a performance of Oklahoma, it sounds really exciting. I hope the last of the rehearsals go well and that it all comes together in time for the show 🙂

Here’s to a fab February. I’m sure it will be one of the best.

      Hi Louise!

Strictly was a bit of a splash out, but luckily my Mum chipped in as Christmas presents. It was fabulous though – I’d certainly recommend it. I’ll write a review if ever I get a second.

We’re down to the last few weeks of rehearsals so it’s getting very exciting. I’m sure there will plenty of other posts about the run as it happens.

Thanks for commenting – have a lovely Feb. Hope to speak to you again soon x
