A Mess In A Dress

Sept Review/October Goals

October 2, 2016

I am such a silly!  It was only recently that I realised I had completely forgotten to write my August review/September goals post.  I’ve been so busy at home and work it completely slipped my mind. Still, I can’t really see the point in going back and doing it now.  Instead, I’m just going to crack on and share with you my September Review and October Goals.

Let’s have a little Life Update shall we?

Life

It has been absolutely manic around Mess In A Dress HQ recently.  We had a fantastic summer, including our well-documented holiday in Norfolk.  Most of our family birthdays fall in the months between June-September so we’ve had plenty of celebrations to look forward to.  The parties ended last weekend when our little Baby Bug turned 3!  I can’t believe how time is flying!

The beginning of September heralded my return to work and this time of year in a school is ALWAYS the busiest.  I’m pulling in a lot of overtime at the moment to try and make sure everything is done when it needs to be.  It’s actually quite tiring and I couldn’t do it without the help of Mr Mess holding the fort back at home.

I’ve also recently taken up running.  Mr Mess has me training for a half marathon next year.  Today for the first time ever I ran 2 miles without stopping.  It’s not been easy to get this far, but I’m feeling pretty good about it.  I’m also really looking forward to seeing the effects on my health and weight as I continue to improve!

On top of that, you may have read on my other social media that I have also been cast as Ado Annie in Oklahoma. I can’t begin to explain how excited I am!  This really does feel like the opportunity of a lifetime.  However, it does mean that I have rehearsals every Monday and Wednesday night.  While I’m certainly not complaining – I’m loving every minute – it does mean I’m out of the house a lot.  It also means I’m super, super busy if you include this blog on my growing to-do list.

Home

Mr Mess is currently on a major decluttering mission and when I am in the house I’m trying to help out as much as I can.  We’ve been working hard, clearing out stuff we don’t need.  There have plenty of trips to the charity shop or dump for the stuff nobody would ever want.  We’re really trying to get a handle on the house to help us stay organised.  I can already notice the difference, especially in our bedroom which is looking lovely!

Blog

It has been a PHENOMENAL couple of months for A Mess In A Dress.  I was offered my first ever PR sample which resulted in one of my most popular (and favourite) posts.  My stats have also smashed all of my previous records and I ended September on a massive high.  1000 views over the course of the month.  That graph is certainly heading in the direction I want it to and I’m starting to feel this blog is growing.

My top 5 most popular posts in August and September were:

Theatre Review : The Full Monty

A Dressfo Vintage Dress Review

Theatre Review: The Pantaloons’ The Canterbury Tales

(This was published in July and it’s still always up there in Most Popular Posts)

A Letter to Bug on your 3rd birthday

Theatre Review: Chicago @ Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham

As you can see, I’m starting to get a bit of a niche with my theatre blogging.  Which seems pretty appropriate considering theatre is one of my major pasttimes.

October Goals

Being so busy means that organisation is going to be key over the next few months.  I’ve purchased some new planner inserts from Crossbow Printables on Etsy and I’m hoping to use them to help keep my diary in check.  (I may do a planner post one day – you lucky devils!)

Now that the blog is moving on up, I’m hoping to keep up the momentum.  I have a calendar full of planned posts and even have a couple of them scheduled.  I’m frantically drafting as many as I can so that I can turn them around quicker.  I’ve also got a bit of blog admin that I could do with getting around to.  The blog is in need of a little refresh!

Other than that, it’s just business as usual.  We’re 3 weeks away from October half term and in our house that means some SERIOUS preparation for Christmas!  Yes, I said the word in October – sue me! It’ll be here sooner than you think. And that’s all I’m saying on that topic for now.

Have a good month and I’ll see you for another (and penultimate) review post in November!
