April Review/May Goals

May 6, 2016

Well, hello there.

It’s that time of the month again when I scramble to review the previous month and set goals for this one, before the month is actually over!

April Review

Life – April sometimes felt like a bit of an emotional rollercoaster.  Some days it felt like I was finally getting my stuff together and other times it was full of stress and worry.

We had a very busy month, especially Moogle who had a dance show and an acting workshop over the Easter holidays.  There were quite a few birthday celebrations (and tea parties) and we even held a dinner party for my best friend, Faith. (Obviously I didn’t cook – I wouldn’t wish that on anyone!)

House – I feel like I kind of stalled with the housework in April, but to be fair there were a lot of other important things that took priority.  We did do a big clean up before Faith came to stay. And luckily I now have a cleaning fairy who helps to maintain the general state of the house, so it never goes too out of control.  Most importantly, I did finally finish my Disney jigsaw (a Christmas present) which had two effects.  Firstly it gave me an enormous sense of satisfaction and secondly, I could finally get it off the coffee table!!

Blog – April was a really good month for the blog.  I actually published 9 posts in April and managed to smash the stats of the previous months.  I know you shouldn’t really get caught up in stats and figures and my views are pretty inconsequential next to most bloggers, but it’s the best I’ve done for months.  It helps to give me a bit of drive to write more.

The top 3 posts on A Mess In A Dress for April were:

A review of The Flying Childers restaurant at Chatsworth House

A review of The Pantaloon’s “The Importance of Being Earnest”

A Day at the Farm (or lowering my expectations)

May Goals

Life – I’m really hoping that things may calm down in upcoming months and I can just relax and enjoy myself. (Although to be honest, we haven’t got off to a great start) I’ve got a throat infection at the moment so I’m feeling really run down. At least half term is just around the corner and I am looking forward to some serious recuperation.

House – To be honest, for the rest of the month I’m really not going to sweat over the housework.  Obviously we’ll focus on keeping the house neat and manageable, and if I get chance to do some little jobs I will do, but it’s really not a priority at the moment.  Although we did finish setting up my dressing table and mirror the other day and it looks fab!  So that’s progress!

Blog – Can I top 9 posts in a month?  It’s not looking too promising, but I do have a few ideas so we shall have to see.  I don’t have a schedule at the moment as they never seem to fit in with my life, but I do try to write as often as I can.  When I have something interesting to say.

I have a couple of theatre trips to tell you about and at least one night out so hopefully that will eventually find its way into a post.

I am also trying to spend more time connecting on social media with other bloggers.  It’s sometimes feels strange being the person who is constantly looking for source material or the perfect blog photo so it can be really refreshing to speak to people who are in the same boat.

So, there you have it – my latest monthly review post.  Did you have a good April?  Or do you have any good plans for May?  Let me know in the comments below.

And don’t forget to follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter if you want to see more of my day-to-day life.
