Ok, so I completely missed September. I’m not even kidding, I actually missed out the September round-up completely. Go back and check if you don’t believe me.
That is pretty much the perfect proof that we have had a hectic couple of months. I’m going to try and bring you up to speed, so grab and cuppa and make yourself comfortable as this might be a long one.
September was a bit of a blur. The kids started back at school, I started back at work, everybody was crazy busy and I ran around like a headless chicken for most of the month. We managed to fill almost every weekend with something exciting, which was brilliant but also exhausting.
Miss Mess and I took a day trip to Sheffield to meet Carrie Hope Fletcher at one of her book signings and I’m not sure who was more excited, me or her. I’ve been a massive fan of Carrie’s for ages so it was hard to stand by and let Miss Mess get all of the attention.
The day of the half marathon came and went, and if I didn’t have quite as strong a finish as I would have liked, I still finished. I’m now taking a much needed break from running but hoping to pick it up again in the new year.
Last, but certainly not least in September, the tiniest of us celebrated her 4th birthday. Just another example of how time is passing far too quickly.
October was equally as jam-packed, although we did manage to squeeze in a lot of fun activities. It might have been a couple of weeks late but we did eventually get around to celebrating Mini Mess’ birthday with a bouncy castle party for all of her friends.
I managed to cram in a couple of theatrical performances, Crazy For You and My Fair Lady as well as watching my old Burlesque troupe in their most recent showcase extravaganza! Over half term we did lots of fun family activities, including pumpkin picking, adventure golf and swimming!
Perhaps most exciting of all, I auditioned for and was accepted into a new Operatic Society. It was incredibly nerve-wracking but completely worth it. So far everyone has been welcoming and friendly and the show sounds like it’s going to be out of this world! I am so excited and can’t wait until we officially start rehearsals in January.
My poor, neglected blog has been kind of put on the back burner for the past couple of months. I have blogged as and when I could but I’m really starting to collect a backlog of posts I planned to write but just haven’t had the time. I’ve reached a kind of plateau in terms of views/followers and it is hard not to be disheartened by this. I am trying to push through it though. I love writing so what does it matter if nobody’s reading it!

Today is first of November which means one thing – I can officially start planning for Christmas. This half term is 8 weeks long, which is going to be a killer and we break up just 2 days before Christmas. This means that I can going to have to be MUCH more organised than normal as there is going to be very little time to sort things after I finish work for the holidays.
I think this month is going to be slightly less crammed than the last few. We’re off to a fireworks display this Sunday, the kids have their production of “Elf” The Musical at the end of the month but apart from that I’m not sure if we have too many big plans. Although there’s still plenty of time to fill that calendar up yet!
In terms of blogging, Mr M treated me to a belated birthday of the amazing premium blog planner from Dot Creates. It’s absolutely gorgeous, has lots of practical planning pages and has some lovely inspirational features to really get me in the blogging mood. I’m looking forward to planning some seriously great content, especially as we creep closer to the Christmas period.
