When I received an email inviting me to a bloggers event at Bobble Art in Intu Deby, I honestly had never heard of the store before. I had not idea what products it stocked and didn’t have a clue what to expect from the event. The whole family were invited by Gemma from Intu Derby as part of their Summer blogging event, which you can read about it its own dedicated post.
As it turns out Bobble Art is a veritable treasure trove. As an adult, I was pretty much mesmerised by all of the beautiful toys, stationery and gift items that were on display, so for a child it must have seemed like paradise! I was amazed at the sheer variety of beautiful products in the store, and how reasonably priced they all were.
When we arrived at Bobble Art we were greeted by the staff, all of whom were very friendly and, as usual, I forgot to get any names! We were given a little bit of time to have a look around the store before the activities began.
I’m obviously quite a girly-girl, so my eye was naturally drawn to the princesses, ballerinas and fairies, but even if that isn’t your cup of tea there was definitely something for everyone. There were knights, dinosaurs, cars – no matter what your child’s interests I’m sure you could find something they’ll like.
Around the store, various stations had been set up where the children could play games, have a go at some crafts or try out some of the beautiful toys. Mini Mess spent most of her time cuddled in a cosy corner, with cushions, a fishing game and ice-cream toy. She also enjoyed hiding in the tower and I did worry that we were going to have a siege situation when another child tried to climb in as well!
Miss Mess, on the other hand, enjoyed getting stuck into all of the crafts on offer. She tried out sand art, pom pom making, clay modelling and colouring and at the end of the event she got to take all of her half-finished creations home so that she could complete them later. Both girls were also given a glitter tattoo, which Mini Mess refers to as her cutie mark. (You’d have to be a MLP fan to get the reference.). I can happily confirm the tattoos are really good quality as they’ve lasted almost a week so far, even after several baths.
As a special treat, and to take advantage of the 25% offer for event attendees, we told the girls they could both pick something to spend their pocket money on. Miss Mess took quite a while to choose decide (there was a lot to choose from). Mini Mess, however, knew exactly what she wanted the moment she saw it – this adorable Jelly Cat stuffed unicorn, which is now affectionally name “Una” and is the softest, cuddliest thing I’ve ever felt.
Miss Mess eventually made up her mind and picked this lovely Foil Art set. Both girls were also given amazing goody bags full of lovely treats from the shop. I’m not going to say too much about them right here, as I’m planning to write a separate blog post reviewing all of the lovely items we got from our first visit to Bobble Art.
I say first because I have absolutely no doubt we’ll be going back again and again. It was a really special event, the girls both had an amazing time and Miss Mess is already asking when she can pay them another visit. All of the staff were so friendly and welcoming. They spent ages playing with the children and making them feel like the centre of attention. One lady even complimented Miss Mess on being so sociable, which I think was her polite way of saying she talked A LOT.
Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff at Bobble Art for giving the girls a day to really remember and to Gemma from Intu Derby for inviting us along. We hope to see you all again soon.
