The 25 Things About Me Tag | A Mess In A Dress

Oo, I love a good tag post, me!  They’re usually really easy to write and are great if you’re struggling for a bit of inspiration.  Big thanks to Jessica from An Ounce of Grace for tagging me.  Let’s get straight down to it:

  • What is your middle name?  Louise.  When I was at school it seemed like everyone’s middle name was Louise.  We even joked about starting a club!
  • What was your favourite subject at school? Definitely drama.  I didn’t really discover my love for all things theatrical until I was about 13, but it’s been with me ever since.
  • What is your favourite drink?  It’s not exciting but it would have to be coca-cola.  I do try and limit my intake as I know it’s really unhealthy but I do love the taste.  For an extra treat I can spice it up a little with some Malibu, Tia Maria or Amaretto.
  • What is your favourite song at the moment? It is almost impossible to choose one favourite song, however I have recently become obsessed with the Legally Blonde musical soundtrack.  I especially love the song “So Much Better”.  It’s such a kick-ass song and always cheers me up.  I have it pretty much on repeat in the car.

  • What is your favourite food? There is absolutely no way I can pick one food, but Mexican is probably my favourite type of food.  Enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, nachos – give me the LOT!
  • What is the last thing you bought? Birthday presents for Miss Mess, but I can’t tell you what they are yet because it’s a surprise!
  • Favourite book of all time?  You almost certainly won’t have heard of it, but my favourite ever book has to be The Witch Queen of He’Anor and not just because the lead character is very loosely based on me!  (FYI – it’s available on Amazon!)
  • Favourite colour? Pink!  Enough said.
  • Do you have any pets?  Yes, we have 4 cats – Mew, Spider, Rudy and Mini.  Long story cut short, a neighbour’s cat (Mew) adopted us and gave birth on our landing.  We kept all of the kittens (sadly Little Red died a few years ago) and nearly 10 years later the whole little family is still together.

  • Favourite perfume?  Definitely Ghost Deepest Night, although I’m not sure if you can still get it.  I got my bottle for Christmas years ago and I’ve made it last. The scent reminds me of Malibu and coke (that is a good thing!)
  • Favourite holiday? Disneyworld or Disneyland Paris.  I’ve been a few times (although some years ago now) and I can’t wait for the day when I can share the experience with my girls.
  • Are you married? Yep! We’ll be celebrating our 10 year anniversary in December 2018!
  • Have you ever been out of the country? If so, how many times? Err.. I’ve probably been out of the country around 10 times in my life, maybe a few more but I haven’t strayed off of British soil for over 12 years!
  • Do you speak any other languages? I studied Spanish and French up to A Level and then took Spanish and Italian at university (although I never finished the course!).  I can probably only remember a handful of phrases now though.  I would love to have a refresher course.
  • How many siblings do you have? 2 younger sisters.  They’re twins although people say we look so alike we could be triplets.

  • What is your favourite shop?  It’s online but I am obsessed with Lindy Bop and would buy EVERYTHING if I could!
  • Favourite restaurant? For a special occasion or fancy meal I’d have to choose Iberico World Tapas in Nottingham.  Their food is to die for!  For a slightly more homemade feel I’d highly recommend The Red Lion in Hognaston, Derbyshire which serves the best pub food I’ve ever had.  It’s also beautifully decorated and is one our of favourite family destinations.
  • When was the last time you cried? I don’t know – I cry all the time at really silly things like emotional songs or telly.  I’m a big softie under this tough exterior.
  • Favourite blog?  It is so hard to pick just one.  Can I pick my own? Ha!  Seriously though, I don’t want to choose one in case I upset someone and the list of blogs I read often is just too long!
  • Favourite movie?  Again, it’s nigh on impossible to pick one but if forced I’d probably say “The Decoy Bride”.  It’s a cute little romantic comedy and features Kelly MacDonald (adorable) and David Tennant (swoon!).
  • Favourite TV shows?  Of all time, it would be Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gossip Girl or Game of Thrones.  Right now, I’m loving iZombie and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
  • PC or MAC? I currently have both.  I use my Mac (or more accurately my husband’s which I’ve commandeered) for all my blogging and use my PC for gaming, such as The Sims.
  • What phone do you have? I’m currently stuck with my crappy old iPhone 4S but I’m really hoping I’ll be able to upgrade to something better in August.
  • How tall are you?  I’m about 5’4″, so pretty short really.  Mr Mess is a foot taller than me and I’m almost certain the girls are going to take after him and I’ll be the short one in the family.
  • And finally, can you cook?  I can, I suppose, but you probably wouldn’t want me to.  I get easily distracted and often burn dinner.  Our kitchen is Mr Mess’ domain!

I hope you liked this little extra insight into my life.  I’ll be tagging a few people on Twitter to carry it on!

You and I have very similar middle names – I have Louisa instead of Louise haha! Gossip Girl is right up there are one of my all time favourite TV shows as well, I might start binging it on Netflix again this summer … 😉 I’m so impressed that you studied languages at such a high level too, I’m sure you’d have no problem getting your skills back!
