When I first started blogging, I had no idea that people, ordinary people like me, got invited by brands to special events, just for bloggers. As soon as I found out, I knew there was only one that I really wanted to be invited to – a Lush event.
So you can probably imagine my excitement when an email landed in my inbox inviting me to a Spring Product Launch Bloggers party at Lush Nottingham. Needless to say, this was a pretty big deal for me.
I drove into Nottingham and offered a lift to Ellie and Sarah – we’re becoming regular car-pool buddies. Once in Nottingham we bumped into Jay and all decided to go to Mod for pizza. (I’ll write a separate review of that soon.)
After meeting up with another bunch of bloggers in Primark, our entire headed to Lush where we were greeted by their fabulous staff. Having spent a fair bit of time in Lush, I already knew that the staff are brilliant and friendly, but this event really gave me to opportunity to get to know them a little better and really appreciate how wonderful they are.
All of the staff are so bright and bubbly, full of knowledge about all of their products and full of enthusiasm that they want to share with the customers. I relished the chance to chat with them about their favourites and recommendations. It’s definitely made me more likely to get chatting with them next time I’m in the store.
There was so much on offer during the event. Each section of the shop had a dedicated member of staff to talk you through the products and give consultations or demonstrations. I had a long chat with a young gentleman (I’m really sorry – I didn’t make a note of any names. Shout up if you read this!) about the skincare products. He was really informative and even gave me a little sample of the Tea Tree Toner Water so that I could have a little try before I buy!
Lush have just recently launched their 2017 Father’s Day range and this event was the perfect opportunity to take a look at what was on offer. There was something for everybody, from bath bombs to shower gels, soaps to shampoos. I hardly ever buy Lush products for Mr Mess, but this did make me think hard about getting him a special treat.
A few of the staff were offering hand and feet massages. I opted for the hand and arm massage from Natasha with the Hottie massage bar. The Hottie bar is designed to help with deep tissue massage and includes ginger and black pepper oils. During the massage, Natasha and I chatted about our favourite products and she talked about some of the wonderful spa treatments that are available at some of the stores. They all sounds completely amazing and if I ever get the chance I’d love to book one.
One of the things that the Lush team were most eager to introduce us to were their new self-preserving products. These products include ingredients such as honey, salt and clay which when used correctly have been proven to naturally preserve products. Over time, Lush hope to completely eliminate the need for synthetic preservatives which is much better for the environment.
One of the things that I love most about Lush, aside from the amazing beauty products is that this is a company which strong ethical values and isn’t afraid to shout about them. They have a policy – the We Believe statement – which lists all of the key values and beliefs of the company. It’s really powerful and inspiring and has recently been added to with a section on free movement around the world. You can read the full statement on their website here.
Not only were the team at Lush Nottingham fabulous at entertaining and educating their guests, they also provided us with some delicious refreshments. There was the biggest pile of doughnuts I’ve ever seen (from The Nottingham Doughnut Company) and we were invited to help ourselves.
As a special treat we were invited to choose a selection of products to take home and try for ourselves. I know some people were desperate for The Comforter shower gel (which does smell divine) but as a bath girl I simply had to choose the new, improved Think Pink Bath Bomb.
From the self-preserving range I chose the Mask of Magnaminty face mask (which I can’t wait to try) and for Mr Mess I chose the Stairway to Heaven soap, which smells of parma violets – Mr Mess’s favourite sweet. They also popped a tiny pot of Tooth Fairy tooth powder into my goody bag which I’m very excited to try. It’s something completely different for me. I couldn’t believe how generous they were and am so grateful for all the lovely gifts.
My first Lush blogging event was everything I’d hoped it would be and more. I had a fabulous time, hanging out with some blogging friends and getting to know the Lush staff. I certainly hope I get invited again in the future and I look forward to the next time I pop into the store to say high.
I have to say a MASSIVE thank you to the wonderful team at Lush Nottingham for being the most amazing hosts and making me feel so welcome. I look forward to seeing them all again soon. A final thank you has to go to Hannah and the Lush PR team for inviting me along in the first place. It was a wonderful opportunity and one I will remember for a long time.
